Joseph Papay Obituary
Joseph S. Papay, 63 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away April 14, 2022, at Rae Ann Suburban in Westlake, following a lengthy illness.
Joe was born November 3, 1958, in Wooster and was raised in Amherst, graduating from South Amherst High School with the class of 1978. Amherst has been his home for the majority of his life.
Joe worked as a laborer for Progressive Plating in Elyria. He also served in the United States Army and was stationed in Alaska. Outside of work, Joe enjoyed fishing and taking care of the family property. His greatest joy, however, was his dog Coco.
Survivors include his sister, Mary (Mike) Congelio of Amherst; his niece, Hannah (Scott Stefan) Congelio of North Olmsted; his nephew, Cody Congelio of Amherst; and his mother, Dorothy Papay (nee:Kangas) of Amherst .
He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest John Papay on June 27, 2005; his grandparents Harvey and Frances Kangas and William, Sr. and Mary Papay.
Public Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 20, 2022 from 4pm until the time of services at 7:15pm at Hempel Funeral Home, Amherst, Ohio . Rebroadcasting of services will be available at www.hempelfuneralhome.com .
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to New Life Hospice 3500 Kolbe Rd, Lorain, OH 44053.
