Joseph Lee Lewis, 58 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 16, 2022, at his home following a sudden illness.
He was born July 27, 1963, in Buckhannon, West Virginia. Joseph had made Lorain County his home for most of his life. He graduated from Lorain High School with the class of 1981. Joe continued his education at the ICM School of Business with an Associate Degree in Business.
He was employed at Invacare as the Director of I.T. Infrastructure before retiring 2019. Joe was an active member of West Ridge Baptist Church where he served as the church treasurer. He was a sports fanatic for all Cleveland sports teams. Joe enjoyed golfing and playing with his colleagues from Invacare. He had a huge heart for supporting Second Harvest Food Bank. Joe was known as a loving and kindhearted man and an incredible brother.
Survivors include his sister, Patricia (Raymond) Hilko of Amherst; and his loving God daughter and niece Lauren (Robert) Morton of Lorain.
He was preceded in death by his brother Rev. James A. Lewis and his parents Clarence Arden and Edith L. Lewis (nee: Smith).
Public Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 21, 2022, from 6-8pm at West Ridge Baptist Church, 46280 Telegraph Road, Amherst. Funeral Services will be held Friday at 10:00 a.m. at West Ridge Baptist. Rebroadcasting of services will be available at www.hempelfuneralhome.com . The Deacon Rodney Griffith, will officiate. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
