John “Jack” Edward McDonald, 82 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Wednesday, October 13, 2021, at Ames Family Hospice Center in Westlake, following a full and meaningful life.
He was born on April 19, 1939, in Sharon, Pennsylvania. Jack was raised in Pennsylvania, residing in several locations before settling in Amherst, Ohio, graduating from high school with the class of 1957 where he participated in football and track.
He was self-employed in construction as well as being a member of the local Carpenters Union. He loved being outdoors, and especially enjoyed the time he spent with his grandchildren riding ATV’s and enjoying nature. His hobbies had included competing in darts and bowling with local leagues.
Survivors include his wife of sixty-three years, Carol Anne McDonald (nee: Mathes); his children, Julia Lorah (Robert) of Venice, FL, and John E. McDonald (Lori) and Jennifer Stawicki both of Amherst; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Jerry McDonald and Audrey Suprun; and his parents, John A. McDonald and Pauline Scutt (nee: O’Hare).
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, October 21, 2021 at 11:00 a.m., at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, 44805 North Ridge Road, Amherst Township.
