John A. Horvath, Jr.

John A. Horvath, Jr., 76 years of age, and a lifetime resident of Amherst, passed away  Tuesday, August 2, 2022, at his home.

 

He was born April 30, 1946 in Amherst.  

 

John was employed at Ford Motor Company in Lorain for thirty-two years before retiring in 1998.  He was also employed at Amherst Quarries and helped build homes while working at Ford. In his younger years, he helped his dad John Sr. work on the farm. John enjoyed horse riding, working outdoors, especially gardening. He loved general outdoor activities, especially hunting and fishing with his son and grandsons. He always was willing to help family and friends. John will be remembered as a very generous and giving man. 

 

Survivors include his loving wife of fifty-five years Dolores “Dee” Horvath (nee: Heater); his children Julie Horvath (Kenneth) of Amherst and John Horvath, III (Rachel); his grandchildren Alex, Annie, Angelica, Christina, Olivia, Jonathan, Kelly,Teddie; his siblings Ron Horvath (Brenda) of Amherst, Craig Horvath of Lorain, Alice Fazekas and Charlotte Varga both of Amherst.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents John, Sr. and Alice Horvath (nee: Mishka).

 

Friends may call Sunday, August 7, 2022 from 4-7 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Monday, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.  Rebroadcasting of services will be available at www.hempelfuneralhome.com . The Rev. Greg Phillips, will officiate.  Burial will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst.
