Jerry “The Bull” Jones, 73 years of age, and a resident of Sheffield Township, passed away Saturday, May 15, 2021, at his home, following a sudden illness.
Jerry was born December 19, 1947, in Barbourville, KY and came to the Lorain County area as a young man. He spent the majority of his life in Sheffield Township.
Jerry worked as a laborer for the City of Lorain and was a member of Lake Avenue Baptist Church. He loved to watch boxing and nature programs. He enjoyed the great outdoors and never met a stranger. He treasured time spent with family fellowshipping and sharing meals together.
Survivors include his children; Belinda Little of Louisville, KY, “Matt” Jerry M. Jones of Sheffield Twp., Amanda Jones of Lorain, “Moe” Melinda (Pat) Bates of Sheffield Twp., Greg (Jennifer) Schoolcraft of Lorain, William (Tina) Schoolcraft of Vermilion, Kevin (Carmelia) Schoolcraft of Amherst, Sidney Schoolcraft of Lorain; Many grandchildren and many great grandchildren; his siblings, Everett Jones of South Amherst, Chris “Junior” Jones of Lorain, and Phyllis Jones of Corbin, KY.
He was preceded in death by his wife of twenty years, Sandra M. Jones (nee: Crislip); his son, John Schoolcraft; and his parents, Isaac and Lena Jones (nee: Slusher).
Public visitation for family and friends will be held at Hempel Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township. Pastor Brady Smale will officiate. Due to State Covid-19 protocols, we are asking that people wear a mask and be careful to maintain social distancing.
