Jeanne Porter Cantrell (nee: Harvey) 99 years of age, and a resident of Lorain, passed away Thursday, February 11, 2021, at Anchor Lodge in Lorain following a long and full life.
Jeanne was born May 19, 1921, in South Bend, IN and moved to Royal Center, IN at the age of seven and graduated from Royal Center High School with the class of 1939. She then moved to Logansport where she lived for 20 years before moving to the Chicago, IL area in 1965. Lorain has been her home since 2008.
Survivors include her sons, John “Jack” (Aiko) Porter of Amherst; Stephen (Chris) Porter of Indianapolis, IN; Bill Porter (Kathy) of Savannah, GA.; grandchildren, Deb McGlothlin, Melissa Kacsandi (Mike) Stephanie Falbo (Joe), Renee Russo (Tom), Scott Porter (Melanie), Philip Porter (Darcy), Kathryn Lindgren (Paul), Nick Porter (Christina), and Emma Porter (Brian); twenty great grandchildren; and beloved nieces, Judy and Sharon.
She was preceded in death by her first husband of twenty-four years, Walter Porter in 1967; her second husband of thirty-five years, John Cantrell in 2005; her brothers, Lionel Harvey and John Harvey; her sister, Ione Scanlan; and her parents, Edward and Lilly Harvey (nee: Simpson).
Public visitation for family and friends will be held at Hempel Funeral Home on Monday, Feb. 15, 2021, from 12pm until the time of service at 1 pm, at the funeral home. Rebroadcasting of services will be available at http://www.hempelfuneralhome.com/ . Burial will take place at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst, Ohio.
