Janet Sue Campbell (nee: Overstreet), 78 years of age, of Amherst, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 22, 2020 at Kingston of Vermilion following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.
She was born August 31, 1942, in Baltimore, Maryland. She was born near shipyard work during the war effort, and her parents relocated to the Lorain area in 1951 to raise a family. Janet had made her home in Amherst since 1961, when she married Paul. During her life, she remained dedicated to her church and her family, especially her grandchildren, until her illness forced her intentions aside. She spent her free time with flowers and gardening, doing craft work, and discovered quite a talent quilting. She joined local quilt clubs and bees, made friends and created many beautiful quilts and wall-hangings in the process. She also loved to read, and she was involved with and supported the local Friends-of-Library organizations.
Survivors include her children David B. Campbell (Laura) of Vermilion and Jeanne A. Campbell of Amherst; seven grandchildren; one great grandchild; her sisters Barbara Thomas of Lorain and Martha Overstreet of Springhill, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her husband of forty-eight years Paul T. Campbell on November 15, 2009; her eldest son Paul Daniel on April 5, 2015 and her parents General Leroy “Jack” and Hazel Overstreet (nee: Bentley).
Graveside Services will be held Monday, November 30, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst. The Rev. Alex VanCurran, pastor of Faith Baptist Church in Amherst, will officiate.
