James Clayton Probst, 85 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at Avon Cleveland Clinic, following a full and meaningful life.
He was born September 7, 1936, in Weston, West Virginia. James moved to Lorain before making his home in Amherst where he resided for the last fifty-one years.
He was employed at Ford Motor Company for thirty-one years before retiring in 1986. James was a faithful member of Faith Baptist Church in Amherst, he loved his church and was always willing to serve wherever needed. He loved to travel with his family, traveling all across the United States, Canada, Alaska. The beaches of the Carolinas were frequent destinations that often included side trips to historical civil war sites of which Gettysburg was a favorite. James was an avid reader, enjoying Western Novels and Civil War History. He proudly served in the United States Air Force. James loved being a husband and nothing brought him greater joy than the time he spent with his family
Survivors include the love of his life, his wife of sixty-two years, Mary Lou (nee: Hicks); his daughters Jami (Don) Anderson of Amherst, Jeri (Mark) Dresbach of Lenoir City, Tennessee and Jodi (Cameron) Sloan of Sherrills Ford, North Carolina; his grandchildren Courtney Jorris, Connor Anderson, Whitney Cusick, Kyler Dresbach, Jordyn Lusk and Peyton Sloan.
He was preceded in death by his parents Warren Lee and Ruth Probst (nee: Queen).
Friends may call Saturday, July 23, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 10:00 at Faith Baptist Church, 440 North Lake Street, Amherst.
