James L. Hannah, 85 years of age, and a resident of Lorain, passed away Saturday, April 17, 2021, at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain, following a full and meaningful life.
He was born October 15, 1935 in Marlinton, West Virginia. James had made his home in Lorain for over sixty years.
He proudly served in the United States Navy. James was employed as an assembler at Ford Motor Company in Lorain for thirty years before retiring. He loved listening to the Indians on the AM/FM radio. James loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and traveling to watch them play sports. In his spare time he enjoyed doing puzzles. Christmas was a special time for James as he would hide a certain bird in the Christmas tree and the grandchildren would have to find it on Christmas morning.
Survivors include his wife, of 61 ½ years Lucille Hannah (nee: Gum); his children, Michael Hannah of Amherst, David Hannah of Dothan, Alabama and LeeAnn (Gregg) Benzel of Amherst; his grandchildren Jessica (Victor) Smith, Douglas (Katie) Benzel, Ryan Hannah; his great grandchildren, Owen and Violet.
He was preceded in death by four siblings; and his parents, Sherman Boyd and Jessie Earl Hannah (nee: Fortune).
Graveside services will be held Friday, April 23, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, 44805 North Ridge Road, Amherst. Full military honors will be provided by the Amherst Veterans Military Honor Guard.
