Irene Marie Prosowski (Nee: Fedor), 97 years of age, and a lifetime resident of Lorain, and most recently a resident of the Elms in Wellington, Ohio, passed away Thursday, February 29, 2024, at New Life Hospice in Lorain, following a full and meaningful life.
She was born June 15, 1926, in Lorain, Ohio.
Irene's primary focus in life was that of a homemaker. She loved caring for her family and spending as much time as possible with them, especially her grandchildren. Irene was employed at Bendix Corp. in Elyria for ten years. Irene was a member of St. Michaels Catholic Church and a former member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church in Lorain. She was a frequent volunteer at Church and was often found assisting with bingo fundraisers. Irene was an avid Cleveland Indians/Guardian fan following closely each season's games. She enjoyed birdwatching, gardening and playing UNO cards. Irene will be remembered as a patient and kind person who represented well “The Greatest Generation”.
Survivors include her children, Marguerite “Marge” Molnar of Strongsville, Deborah Shive (Daniel) of Seville, and David Prosowski (Eva) of Amherst; many grandchildren; and many great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of eleven years, Stanley Joseph Prosowski; her siblings, Louis Fedor, Julius Fedor, Elsie Ursic and Helen Airulla; and her parents, Louis and Anna Fedor.
Friends may call Sunday, March 3, 2024, from 7-9 P.M. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Irene’s grandson, Rev. Cory Prosowski, associate pastor of Faith Baptist Church in Amherst, will officiate. Rebroadcasting of services will be available at www.hempelfuneralhome.com .
