Obituary

Gregory K. Meyers, 63 years of age, and a lifetime resident of Amherst, passed away Friday, June 4, 2021, at his home.

He was born August 6, 1957 in Amherst. Greg graduated from Marion L. Steele in Amherst with the class of 1975, where he excelled in basketball and baseball.  

Greg was employed as a custodian with the Amherst School System for seventeen years before retiring.  He was previously employed at Ridge Tool and Nordson Corporation for twenty years. Greg will always be remembered for his love of his family and for always having a funny story or joke to share.   He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren whom he loved so very much.  Greg shared his love of sports with his children by coaching their youth sports teams and always providing support and encouragement.  Greg enjoyed sharing his life with his bulldog, Norman.

Survivors include his children Matthew Meyers (Amanda) of Nashville, Tennessee, Christopher Meyers (Stacy) of Lorain and Jennifer Meyers (Justin) of Perrysburg, OH; his grandchildren Luca Lorenzen, Landry Lorenzen, Winston Meyers, Millie Meyers, Bryce Meyers, Brielle Meyers; his siblings  Anne (Larry) Foglyano of Amherst, Stephanie (Joe) Waryu of Amherst and Jeff (Carol) Meyers of Lorain.  Greg is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

He was  preceded by his brother Anthony “Tony” Meyers in 2012; and his parents Keith  and Dolores  Meyers (nee: Syrowski) both in 2018; and his former wife Kim Meyers (nee: Northeim) in 2012.

Public visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 7:00 p.m. at Hempel Funeral Home, Amherst.  Please visit the funeral home's website to share a memory and sign the guest register, www.hempelfuneralhome.com.
