Gloria Ann Urig

Gloria Ann Urig (nee: Walker), 93 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away peacefully September 29,2021, at 1907 Central School.

Gloria was born March 6,1928, in Amherst which remained her home most of her life. 

She was a faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.  She was an active member of the local chapter of TOPS, and enjoyed the many bus trips taken with her close friends.  She treasured being a wife and mother. Her greatest joy in life was loving and caring for her family which included taking in ironing and doing childcare to help make the ends meet. She was gifted at cooking and baking and also when time allowed enjoyed reading. 

Survivors include her children; Gail (Alan) Greaves Twinsburg, Thomas (Suzanne) Urig of South Amherst, and Daniel (Kim) Urig of Lorain; her grandchild, Spenser Urig; and her sister, Rita Angelo of Brownhelm Township.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Alton Urig; her son, Timothy Urig in 1973; by her brothers, Jimmy Walker and Sonny Walker; and her parents, Harry and Ellen Walker (nee: McCran).

A public reception of family and friends will be held on Friday, Oct 8th, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home, Amherst, Ohio.  Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 9th, at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Timothy O’Connor, pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church will officiate.  Burial will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery.
