Glen Eugene Brightbill, 89 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Saturday, May 22, 2021, at Ames Family Hospice in Westlake, following a full and meaningful life.
He was born September 14, 1931, in Lorain. Glen was raised in Lorain, graduating from Clearview High School with the class of 1949.
He proudly served in the United States Army as a Paratrooper. Glen was employed at Lake Terminal Railroad at US Steel in Lorain for thirty-two years before retiring in 1986 as an Assistant Train Master. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Amherst. Glen loved playing golf and played as long as his health permitted. He was an avid Cleveland Sports fan, especially Ohio State Football. Glen enjoyed doing yard work and reading, especially Western Novels.
Survivors include his children, Janet L. Reid of Amherst, Julie A. Cogar (Robert) of Lorain and James C. Brightbill (Debra); six grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-two years Donna Jean Brightbill (nee:Mack); his five siblings; and his parents, John and Leota Brightbill.
Public visitation and funeral for family and friends will be held at Hempel Funeral Home on Friday, May 28, 2021, from 5pm until the time of service at 7:30pm. Due to State Covid-19 requirements, we are asking that people wear a mask and be careful to maintain social distancing.
