Gayle Ann Kaine (nee: O’Connor), 80 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Thursday, October 19, 2023, at New Life Hospice Center in Lorain, following a full and meaningful life.
She was born November 23, 1942, in Lorain. Gayle had made her home in Lorain for most of her life, graduating from Lorain High School with the class of 1961. Amherst has been her home for the last six and half years.
Her primary focus in life was that of a homemaker. Gayle had a great smile that could light up a room. She attended St. Peter Catholic Church in Lorain. Gayle was an avid reader and was a great cook. She loved music, movies and bowling. Gayle also enjoyed fashion shopping and staying up to date on the new trends.
Survivors include her children, Colleen Kaine of Amherst and Chris Kaine of Strongsville; her grandchildren, Jiordanne and Mackenzie; and her brother, Terry O’Connor of Lorain.
She was preceded in death by her husband of seventeen years, Thomas Kaine in 2020; and her parents, William and Kathleen O’Connor (nee: Flaherty).
Friends may call Wednesday, November 1, 2023, from 4-7 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home, Amherst. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Craig Hovanec, pastor of St. Peter Parish, will officiate. Rebroadcasting of services will be available at www.hempelfuneralhome.com . Burial will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
