Frederick “Freddy” Sexton, 86 years of age, and a resident of Lorain, passed away Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain, following a full and meaningful life.
He was born May 29,1936, in Crown City, in Logan County, West Virginia. Freddy had made his home in Lorain for the last sixty-three years.
His family meant everything to him, he was the rock for his whole family. Freddy’s life revolved around his family. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, great great grandfather and brother. Freddy was a non judgemental, generous man who helped anyone, whenever asked. Freddy was a loving and caring husband to his wife throughout their lives. Freddy’s hobbies included playing cards, shooting pool and fishing. He also enjoyed refurbishing cars for his family. He was employed at Ford Motor Company in Lorain for more than thirty years before retiring in the body shop.
Survivors include his wife of sixty-five years, Susan Sexton (nee: Kovich); his children, Pamala Horning (Stephen Csincsak), Yvonne Brandt both of Lorain, Becky Kowalski (Gary) of Put-in-Bay and Fred Sexton Jr. of Amherst; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-nine great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren; his siblings, James Sexton of West Salem, David Sexton (Rita Faye) of Vermilion and Myrna Baker of Vermilion.
He was preceded in death by his son, Douglas Edward Sexton on July 25, 2006; his sisters Wanda Holderbaum, Bessie Baker, two brothers and one sister as young children; and his parents Oscar Douglas and Mary Belle Sexton (nee: White).
Friends may call Sunday, June 26, 2022 from 5-8 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home. Additional calling hours will be held Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. The Pastor Bob Wickens, of Church of the Open Door, will officiate. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, South Amherst.
