Frank A. Nesbit, 87 years of age and a resident of South Amherst, passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at Welcome Nursing Home in Oberlin from complications of COVID-19.
He was born September 4, 1933 in Lorain, Ohio. Frank was raised in Lorain, graduating from Lorain High School with the class of 1951. He had made his home in South Amherst for the last fifty-seven years.
Frank proudly served in the United State Army during the Korean War. He was a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in South Amherst as well as several local historical societies.
He worked as a construction laborer, retiring in 1998. Frank enjoyed woodworking and home improvement, reading Westerns and history, and researching his family’s genealogy.
Survivors include his children Peggy Nesbit of South Amherst, Karen Nesbit of Hudson, Ohio; Jerald Nesbit (Addie) of San Marco, Texas, his grandchildren Robert W. Smith (Lawrence) and Madeline Smith; his brothers Del Nesbit of Sandusky, Jim Nesbit of Wilmington, NC and Tom Nesbit of Dayton.
He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-nine years Kathleen Jane Nesbit (nee: Wilhelm) on August 28, 2015; his eldest daughter Jane Smith on September 5, 1998; his sister Roberta Romell and his parents Allan and Margaret Nesbit (nee: Mackin).
