Francis “Blaine” Tate, 81 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Saturday, November 28, 2020 at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain, following a brief illness.
He was born October 22, 1939 in Uniontown, Pennsylvania. Blaine was a lifelong resident of the Lorain and Amherst area. He was a graduate of Lorain High School with the class of 1960.
Blaine proudly served in the United States Army as a E5 Sergeant serving during the Vietnam War stationed at the Dugway Proving Grounds. Blaine was employed as a realtor manager with Homemark Realty before retiring. He was previously employed for many years at various Chevrolet Dealerships in the area. Blaine was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ Restored Gospel in Lorain.. He loved working on old cars, especially Chevy’s. Blaine loved all sports, especially the Cleveland Browns and the Ohio State Buckeyes . He enjoyed the outdoors, especially camping and fishing. Blaine found his true passion in life as a grandfather to his granddaughter Alexa. He will be remembered as a very generous man and was willing to do anything for anyone.
Survivors include his children Troy Tate and Michelle Tate both of Amherst; his granddaughter Alexa Bowens of Amherst; his siblings Barry Tate of Lorain, Roland (Delores) Tate of Olmsted Falls, Carol (John) Moore of Fairmont, WV, Nancy (Chris) Sabo of Avon and Patricia Bedocs of Orlando, FL; his companion Mary Nardozzi of Lorain and the mother of his children Marilyn Lang of Amherst..
He was preceded in death by his siblings Stirling Tate, Emery Tate and his parents Roland and Stella Pearl Tate (nee: Jordan).
Public visitation for family and friends will be held Friday, December 4, 2020 by reservation at https://signup.com/go/AVwzAvAor by calling 440-988-4451 during business hours, at Hempel Funeral Home, Amherst, Ohio. Limited public funeral for family and friends will be held Saturday afternoon at Hempel Funeral Home by reservation by https://signup.com/go/JjdeucH . Rebroadcasting of services will be available at YOUTUBE/Hempel Funeral Home. Private burial will be held at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman, Ohio.
