Obituary

Frances I. Flock (nee Robinson) passed away on Wednesday, April 20, 2022.  She was born July 27, 1929 in Steuben, Ohio to Stephen H. and T. Irene (nee Shire) Robinson.  She graduated from New London High School in 1947 and attended business college in Oberlin.  She had resided in Amherst for the last 70 years.
 
Frances was an avid bowler and golfer, even scoring a hole-in-one.  She was a member of Amherst Eagle Auxiliary since 1953 and held various offices in the organization for much of that time.  Frances enjoyed reading, quilting, sewing, crocheting, gardening, canning, traveling and was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed one.
 
She is survived by her children, Linda Flock of Amherst, who was her mother’s devoted caregiver for many years, Susan Ernst, William (Patricia) Flock, and Larry (Diane) Flock all of Amherst.  She had five grandchildren: Rebecka (Edward) Tolley of Dothan, AL, Mathew Ernst of Phoenix, AZ, Kelly (John) Marsh of Asheville, NC, Anthony (Amanda) Flock of Trappe, PA, and Allison Flock of Lorain and six great-grandchildren: Kaelyn and Kyra Tolley, Aiden and Ava Marsh, and Lily and Logan Flock.  She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, her brother-in-law Donald Flock and her sister-in-law Joan GIll.
 
She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years Gerald, her parents, her brothers Virgil and Henry S. Robinson, her sisters ClaraBelle Krebs Herrington, Merry Ardella Hillman, and Faith Irene Robinson, her son-in-law David Ernst, her nieces Laura Benson and Jann Gehrke, and her nephews Joseph Hillman, Daniel Krebs and Michael Robinson. 
  
Visiting hours will be held Monday, April 25, 2022 from 4-7p.m. at Hempel Funeral Home in Amherst.  A prayer service will be conducted by the Eagles Auxiliary at 6:00 p.m.  Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.  Rebroadcasting of services will be available at www.hempelfuneralhome.com . Burial will follow at Crownhill Cemetery, Amherst.
 
The family would like to thank Mercy Hospital and New Life Hospice for the excellent care given to Frances.
