Everett M. "Papa" Bevins went home to be with the Lord on January 3, 2021 in his home surrounded by his loving family under the care of Bluegrass Hospice Care. Everett was born on December 3, 1934 in Grapevine Mountain, KY. He moved to Lorain, OH in 1952 to work at US Steel. He retired June 15, 1995 after 40 years service as a proud Teamster member. Everett was very proud of his name being recorded as a professional truck driver in Dearborn, MI at the Automotive Truckers Association with an award acknowledgement of 1 billion miles accident free. He returned to Pikeville, KY in 1994 to enjoy his retirement.
Everett dedicated his life to loving and taking care of his family. He enjoyed Bluegrass festivals, was an avid UK Wildcats fan, loved his dog Lilly, and his GrandPuppy Aries. Everett enjoyed sitting on his porch watching and feeding his wild birds (especially Cardinals) and any other animal that visited his yard every morning.
Everett is survived by his daughter Sue (Tim) Logsdon of Lorain, OH; son Randy (Karyn) Bevins of Vero Beach, FL; brother Ermal Bevins of KY; sister Lois Bevins of KY. Grandchildren: Jennifer (Mike) Traft of Lancaster, OH; Nicole (Lonnie) Wolfgang-Carr of Vermilion, OH; Jeffrey (Sarah) Wolfgang of Wakulla, FL; Michael Smith of Savannah, GA; Grant (Madision Cook) Bevins of Mascotte, FL; Sierra Bevins of Vero Beach, FL. Great-grandchildren: Brandon, Kyle, Jesse Wolfgang, Justin Traft , Randy & Racheal Wolfgang, Kellin, Evan. Great-great grandchildren: Karlee, Ryan & Maila Wolfgang. Many Nieces and Nephews.
Preceded in death by his father Clinard Bevins; mother Anna Mertie Bevins (nee Reynolds); wife Wanda J. Bevins (nee Parker); daughter Evelyn J. Smith (nee Bevins); brothers Clifford, Jimmy, Carmel, Vernon; sister Joyce
Public visitation will be held Friday, January 8, 2021 from 12:00 noon until the time of the funeral at 2:00 p.m. at Hempel Funeral Home, Amherst, Ohio. Rebroadcasting of services will be available at http://www.hempelfuneralhome.com Pastor Bob Wickens of Church of the Open Door will officiate. Burial will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
