Evelyn Joyce Radcliffe (nee: Reed), 97 years of age, and a resident of Elyria, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, November 17, 2022, at UH Elyria Medical Center following a full and blessed life.
She was born February 8, 1925, in North Fairfield, Ohio. A long time resident of Wakeman, Evelyn eventually moved in 2011, to her home in Elyria at the Abbewood.
Evelyn was defined by her relationship with Jesus and her Christian faith permeated every activity in her life. Whether serving at the New London Baptist Church as choir member, Sunday School Teacher, or Junior Church leader for fifty years, or being an active servant at Camden Baptist Church in ministries like Naomi’s Circle for twenty years her passion for Christ remained steadfast. She worked as a treasurer for the Western Reserve School System for thirty years. She was also employed for Bendix WestingHouse, CE Ward Co. in New London, and as a young woman, was a switchboard operator in Olena, Ohio. Evelyn loved being out in nature tending her flower and vegetable gardens. She was a gifted seamstress. Her greatest joy in life was fulfilling her God given roles as wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Survivors include her daughters, Diana Lee Harberts of Ventura, CA, and Denise Ann Fugel (Bill) of Fountain Inn, SC; fourteen grandchildren; forty great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of forty-six years, Melvin Radcliffe; her daughter's Dawn Marie van Wingerden, and Doreen Sue Newell along with her husband Gary and daughter Stephanie; infant grandson, Joseph Berch; siblings, Charles Reed, Robert Reed, Frances Brogan, John Reed and Beverly Sharp; and her parents, Ralph and Hulda Reed (nee: Underwood).
Friends may call Wednesday, November 23 , 2022, from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. at Camden Baptist Church, 7901 OH-511, Wellington, OH 44090. Rebroadcasting of services will be available at www.hempelfuneralhome.com . Rev. Larry Nocella, pastor of Camden Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will follow at Camden Township Cemetery.
