Emeri Egyes, 56 years of age, and a resident of Lorain, passed away Friday, January 1, 2021 at Northridge Health Center following a brief illness.
Emeri was born May 28, 1964 in Cleveland. He was a life-long resident of Lorain.
During his child- and teen-years, Emeri lived with his parents and two sisters. Despite having developmental challenges, it was not his needs that made him special to those that knew and loved him. While Emeri lived with his first family, he filled the house with music.
Emeri loved to sing and clap and drum and dance, often needing no accompaniment or instruments to perform for his own enjoyment, and for the small audience to whom he brought so much joy; especially when he sang about his family and their own quirks, like his unforgettable original ode about his father’s daily cups of coffee that brought laughter every time of the hundreds that he sang it over the years.
Emeri had a vibrant energy as a boy, and a delightfully silly sense of humor. Just the sounds of his chatter and his laughter lifted the spirits of those blessed to be around him. And when that wasn’t enough, for anyone that needed it, lovingly affectionate Emeri was generously there with a giant bear hug that often would erupt into an impromptu tango.
When it was time for Emeri to branch out into the larger world, at the age of 19, he moved to the Meister Group Home, where he was welcomed by a warm and loving family of caregivers and friends that remember him as a gentle soul who loved classical music. He loved to entertain those around him and he loved recreation time with balls at the Meister Group home.
Emeri is survived by his mother Natalia Egyes (nee: Todorovic) of Nevada; his sister Elizabeth (Liz) Egyes Lubin and brother-in-law Frederick Lubin, of Nevada; his sister Judith (Judi) Egyes, and Judith’s two sons, nephews Caleb and Luke Knight, of Wisconsin.
Emeri was preceded in death by his father, George Egyes, who passed also on January 1, of 2002.
