Elijah Branscum Obituary

Elijah Taylor Branscum, 31 years of age, and a lifetime resident of Amherst, passed away Thursday, January 25,  2024, at Mercy Regional Medical Center.

Elijah  was born January 29, 1993, in  Lorain.  He was raised in Amherst and graduated with the class of 2012 from Amherst Steele High School. Elijah was a member of the Amherst High School Comet Hockey team playing four years as the team's goalie.  Their team was able to win the Baron Cup Championship two of the four years. He was also honored by an invitation to be a member of the All Ohio Hockey Team to play exhibition 2012 in Columbus.  Elijah went on to receive multiple degrees and certifications from L.C.C.C.  and was currently an apprentice electrician for Butchko Electric.   He loved being with family and friends, enjoying moments like golfing, playing ultimate frisbee, and being part of bands playing his electric guitar.  Elijah was bright eyed and full of life and might even be found breaking into one of his infectious dance moves whenever the spirit led.   He enjoyed many deep and authentic relationships with family and friends, all of whom enjoyed his quick wit and a great sense of humor.  
 
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of two years and companion of eleven, Heather Nicole Branscum (nee: Justice); his brother, and his girlfriend, Tyler Branscum and Alayne Magni of Columbus, OH; his parents, Timothy and Pamela Branscum (nee: Nestor); his maternal grandparents, Clay and Karen Nestor; His paternal grandmother, Olga Marie Branscum (nee: Tettaton) of CA; his aunt, Lois (Dennis) Barber of AZ; and his uncle, Mark (Penny) Nestor of KY; as well as many many cherished family and friends.

Elijah was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Edmon “Red” Branscum in 2017;and his paternal grandmother, Hazel Branscum (nee: New) in 1983.

The family will receive friends Saturday, February 3,  2024, from 1-4 pm at the Hempel Funeral Home, Amherst.   A reception will follow from 5-8 p.m. at the Bricklayers Union Hall, 8499 Leavitt Road, Amherst, OH 44001.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the family in Elijah’s memory.
