Edward J. Kindel, Jr., 90 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away September, 24, 2022, at New Life Hospice.
Edward was born June 14, 1932, in Cleveland and raised in Maple Heights. Amherst has been his home for the last six years.
Edward worked as a truck and diesel mechanic for 24 years. He was then employed as a school bus driver for 24 years by Maple Heights School District. Outside of work, he loved not only to hunt and fish; but to collect fishing poles, knives, and ships. Most of all he loved his family. He will be dearly missed by his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and extended family whom he loved deeply.
Survivors include his children, Mary Ann (Tim) Hinds of Buford, GA, “Kitty” Kathleen Kindel of Amherst, Guy Kindel of Parma, Deborah Major of Amherst, Michael (Susan) Kindel of San Tan Valley, AZ; fourteen grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Diane Gruenwald; his sister, Roseanne Weigand and parents, Edward and Cecilia Kindel-Schultz (nee: Tepley).
Visitation for family and friends are available in Bedford and Amherst, Ohio. Monday, Sept 26, 2022, from 5 to 8 pm at Johnson-Romito Funeral Home, 521 Broadway Ave. Bedford, OH 44146. Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2022, from 5 to 8pm at Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst, OH. 44001. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday the 28th at 10 am from the Hempel Funeral Home. Rebroadcasting of services will be available at www.hempelfuneralhome.com. Burial will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery in Amherst, Ohio.
