Dorothy Street Obituary

Dorothy Rose (Rosa) Street (nee: Pheiffer), 88 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away on September 9, 2021 at Ames Family Hospice in Westlake.

She was born April 7, 1933 in Norwalk, Ohio, graduating from Monroeville High School with the class of 1951.  After her marriage, Dorothy and her husband lived in Norwalk for two years.  They moved to Lorain and lived there for seven years before moving to Amherst where they had made their home for the last fifty-seven years. 

As a young girl she was employed at the Mail-Me-Monday Accountants for six years.  Dorothy was later employed part time with the Amherst School Systems for ten years in the cafeteria. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amherst.  Dorothy loved being a homemaker, baking and cooking for her family.  She enjoyed sewing and needle crafts.  Nothing brought her greater joy than the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband of sixty-six years Philip Street; her children David Street of Elyria, Elaine Banuelos (Roman) of Hatch, New Mexico, Deborah Beam (Douglas) of Amherst, Ronald Street of Vermilion and Donald Street (Cheryl) of South Amherst; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; her sisters Jane Schreiner (Kenneth) and Susan Eberly (Brian Clouse) both of Norwalk.

She was preceded in death by her sisters Mary Stieber, Anne Stieber; and her parents Alfred and Helen Pheiffer (nee: Baechle).

Public visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 from 5-8 p.m..at Hempel Funeral Home. Closing Prayers will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church; 200 St. Joseph Drive. Amherst.   Rebroadcasting of services will be available at http://www.hempelfuneralhome.com/. The Rev. Fr. Timothy O’Connor, pastor will officiate.  Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Amherst.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to  the donor’s favorite charity.
