Donn "Sarge" Albert Eberhardt

Donn “Sarge” Albert Eberhardt, 77 years of age, and a resident of South Amherst, passed away Friday, May 20, 2022, at Amherst Manor following a brief illness.

Donn was born August 12, 1944, in Cleveland, Ohio, and made his home in South Amherst for the majority of his life. 

On October 8, 1966, Donn married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Carol Discenzo.  They were married for 55 years and together raised two children, Todd (Sally) Eberhardt of Amherst, and Tracy (Rolando “Roly”) Izquierdo of Crystal Lake, IL.  He treasured time spent with his five grandchildren, Holly, Isabella, Leo, Andie and Eva.   

Donn was a career bricklayer for the Local Union #8.  He had many interests including lawn care, gardening, feeding the birds, and anything that involved being outdoors.  He was a WWII history buff, a Browns backer, an Ohio sports enthusiast, and a faithful Ohio State Buckeye fan.  He enjoyed watching Seinfeld. Above all else he treasured his family. He attended all of his children’s sporting events spanning grade school through college.  Donn traveled frequently with his wife to many locations including Europe, Hawaii, Alaska, and his absolute favorite, Aruba.  He was loved by his family and will be missed by ‘the boys’ at the coffee shop.

Donn  was preceded in death by his parents, Albert L. and Bette J. Eberhardt (nee: Shaver).

Public visitation will be held Wednesday, May 25, 2022 from 4-7 pm at the Hempel Funeral Home, Amherst, Ohio.  Funeral Services will be held Thursday at 11 am from the funeral home with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, South Amherst.  Rebroadcasting of services will be available at www.hempelfuneralhome.com
