Devin S. Hayes

Devin S. Hayes, 17 years of age, and a lifelong resident of Lorain, passed away Friday, June 26, 2020 following an ATV accident.

He was born March 8, 2003 in Lorain. Devin would have been going into his junior year at Marion L. Steele High School in Amherst. 

Devin will be remembered as a very kind, sweet and respectful soul.  He was always willing to put family and friends' needs before himself.  Devin was a crowd pleaser and had a great sense of humor and always made people laugh.  He had a sensible spirit and wore his heart on his sleeve.

Those who will cherish Devin are his parents Kevin Hayes and Jennifer Garza; his grandparents Jose and Heidi Matias and Debbie Tomco; his siblings Michael Cyrus (Alex) of Oberlin, Nate Cyrus (Brianna) and Bryan Cyrus both of Lorain, Austin Hayes of LaGrange, Savannah Draudt of Kansas city, Missouri, Hayley Garza and, Kaydance Hayes both of Oberlin and Starjenna Hayes of Lorain and many nieces and nephews; his girlfriend Emily Bailor and his best friend Luke Brantley, Janelle Brantley.

Public Visitation by family and friends will occur Wednesday, July 1, 2020 in the afternoon and evening by reservation at  https://signup.com/go/YmJpPGm  or by calling 440-988-4451 at Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Avenue, Amherst. Face coverings are required at all services.  Private  funeral services will be held at Hempel Funeral Home.  PUBLIC LIVE STREAMING of the funeral service will be available at www.hempelfuneralhome.com on Thursday, July 2, 2020  at 11:00 a.m. by selecting the live stream tab to gain access.  Rebroadcasting of services will be available at YOUTUBE/Hempel Funeral Home.  Friends are invited to the Graveside burial at  New Russia Township Cemetery in Oberlin following the live stream.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made directly to Hempel Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses.
