David “Davey” Jason Wright, 44  years of age, and a resident of Lorain, passed away Monday, February 22, 2021 at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain, following a brief illness.

He was born February 6, 1977 in Amherst.  Davey was a lifetime resident of Lorain, graduating from Admiral King High School with the class of 1996 where he played football and earned a welding certificate.

David “Davey” Jason Wright, 44  years of age, and a resident of Lorain, passed away Monday, February 22, 2021 at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain, following a brief illness.

He was born February 6, 1977 in Amherst.  Davey was a lifetime resident of Lorain, graduating from Admiral King High School with the class of 1996 where he played football and earned a welding certificate. 

He was employed at TDM in Lorain for several years and then Thogus in Avon.  Davey was an avid Cleveland sports fan.  Davey was a “people person” and never met a person he didn’t like.  He enjoyed bowling, working on cars, and fishing. He also enjoyed remodeling and decorating. Davey loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and his nieces and nephews. Davey was a member of Beacon Baptist Church in Lorain.

Survivors include his wife Ellen Wright (nee: Harding); his children Michael Wright and Breanna Frazee both of Ashland, Mikayla Wright of Lorain; his stepson Ryan Garrison (Courtney) of Medina; his grandchildren Damon and Marlaine; his sisters Rachel Horvath (John) and JoEllen Wright both of Lorain; his friend Jessica Green of Lorain; and his nieces and nephews Angelica, Christina, Olivia, Jonathan, Michael and Jesse; and his dog Sunny and many kittens.

He was preceded in death by his parents David B. Wright and Cheryl Lynn Neuman (nee: Bunton); and his stepson Kyle Garrison.

Public visitation for family and friends will be held at Hempel Funeral Home on Monday morning by reservation at https://signup.com/go/iLJyUfu  or by phoning the funeral home at 440-988-4451 during business hours of 9-5.  Funeral services will be held privately by the family.  Rebroadcasting of services will be available at http://www.hempelfuneralhome.com/ . The Rev. Greg Phillips will officiate.  Burial will take place at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
