David Stephen Szekely

David Stephen Szekely, 72 years of age, and a resident of Elyria, passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2023, 2023, at his home following a brief illness.

David was born August 22, 1950, in Lorain, and graduated from Amherst High School.  He had lived in Colorado for forty years before returning to Ohio in August of 2022.  

David received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration and Accounting from Miami University of Ohio.  He loved hunting and fishing and worked in the maintenance department of Western State College of Colorado. 

Survivors include his siblings, Michael (Vicki) Szekely  of Elyria, Larry (Laura) Szekely of Medina, and Diane (Matthew) Papp of Hawaii; and  many nieces and nephews.  

David was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Concetta Szekely (nee: Alessandro) 

Friends may call Thursday, April 27, 2023, from 5-8 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home, Amherst.   A mass of Christian burial  will be held on Friday, April 28 at 10 a.m. at St. Vincent DePaul, 41295 North Ridge Rd., Elyria Ohio 44035.  The Rev. Fr. Neil Walters will officiate.  Rebroadcasting of services will be available at www.hempelfuneralhome.com . Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain, Ohio.
