David Theodore Sellers, 94 years of age, and a lifetime resident of Elyria, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 7, 2022 at Ames Family Hospice House in Westlake, following a full and meaningful life.
He was born October 9, 1927 in Elyria Ohio, graduating from Elyria High School with the class of 1946. David received his Bachelor's degree from Baldwin Wallace College.
He proudly served in the United States Army. David was employed as an Insurance Investigator starting at Retail Credit Company and EquiFax for fifty years before retiring. David was one of the founding “charter” members of Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Amherst. He was an avid Elyria Sports Fan his entire life. David had a real zest for life that never ceased to amaze his family and friends. He loved attending his grandchildren and great grandchildren’s sporting events. David enjoyed traveling throughout the years with his late wife Janice.
Survivors include his children, Sarah “Jane” Stallings (Ed) of Elyria, Deborah H. Herring (Richard) of Ft. Meyers, FL and David P. Sellers (Lisa) of Amherst; his grandchildren, Greg Stallings, Jeanette Pycraft, Scott Stevenson, Amy Cassidy, Amanda Yarham, Erin Montgomery, Jonathan Sellers and Megan Lyngass; twenty-seven great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-eight years Jance Harriett Sellers (nee: Dean) on November 10, 2020; his grandchildren Jennifer Leigh Sellers and Henry Charles Pycraft; his siblings Lowell Sellers and Florence Hobbs; and his parents Theodore Faye and Helen Gaynel Sellers (nee: Ayers).
Friends may call Wednesday, August 10, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service 6:00 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at Brookdale Cemetery in Elyria. The Rev. Chris Reutepohler, pastor of Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Amherst, will officiate.
