Darlene Honeycutt (nee: Partin), 82 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away April 24, 2022, at the Ganzhorn Suites of Avon following a full and meaningful life.
She was born January 13, 1940, in Anchor, KY, and raised in Warren, KY, and lived there until her marriage. After her wedding, she moved to Amherst with her husband Lester. Amherst has been her home since 1958.
Darlene was active in life with her husband. They owned and operated multiple businesses. She worked at Golden Acres for 10 years before starting Honeycutt Southern Cooking and Honey’s Lemonade at Jamie’s Flea Market. Along with her late son Greg and husband Lester, she owned and operated Honeycutts General Store in South Amherst. They loved taking their food trailer to fairs and festivals. She was known for her homemade southern biscuits. Her prize possession was her family.
Her son Lester Honeycutt (Thomasine) of Taylorsville, KY; her daughters Judy Uszak (Michael) of Amherst, Jamie (Chuck) Ploskunak of Taylorsville, KY, and Betty (Billy) Butts of Avon Lake; and her grandchildren Karli Clemmons (Scott), Tyler Butts, Briar Honeycutt, Mikey Uszak, and Jaxsen Honeycutt; and her great grandchild, Cade Clemmons.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years Lester Honeycutt in 2019; her son, Greg Honeycutt in 2013; and an infant daughter in 1962; her siblings Alma Shelton, Winston Shelton, and JR Jones; her grandparents, John “Rabbit” and Pheba Josephine-Lee Partin; and her parents, Beverly Hamilton and Ethel Partin.
The family would like to thank Hospice of the Western Reserve and Ganzhorn Suites of Avon for the excellent care provided to Darlene during her final illness.
Public Visitation will be held on Friday, April, 29, 2022, 5 p.m.- 8 p.m. at Hempel Funeral Home, . Funeral services will be held the following day Saturday, April 30, 2022, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Jayson Samons, pastor of North Lake Missionary Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in South Amherst.
