Daniel Joseph Ilcisko, 62 years of age, and a resident of Vermilion , passed away, Tuesday, May 18, 2021, at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain, following a brief illness.
He was born March 29, 1959 in Lorain. Dan had made his home in Vermilion for the last twenty-nine years. He was a graduate of Marion L. Steele High School in Amherst with the class of 1977.
He was employed as a chemical operator at Lubrizol in Avon Lake for over 30 years. Dan loved being outdoors, hunting, fishing, hiking and boating. He was known to be a hard working, fun loving guy. Dan considered everyone a friend, and was known to be very generous in helping family and friends.
Survivors include his daughters, Abbey (Lindsay) Britt of Jacksonville, North Carolina; and Amber Ilcisko of Rhode Island; his siblings, David Ilcisko (Debbie) of Amherst; Kathy Sponseller (Ralph) of LaGrange, Kentucky and Laurie Bainbridge of Pleasureville, Kentucky; and his longtime companion Shelley DeAngelis.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Angela Ilcisko; his sister Connie Butler; his brother in law, Charles Bainbridge; and his parents Joseph and Helen Ilcisko (nee: Urban).
Public visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, May 23, 2021 from 2-5 p.m.at Hempel Funeral Home, Amherst. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 24, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Due to Covid-19, we are asking that people wear a mask and be careful to maintain social distancing.
