Mr. Curtis Hicks, 82, of Amherst went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 14,
2022. He was born on March 23, 1940, in Scott County, Tennessee to parents, Alvin and Oma
Hicks. Curtis was known to be a man of strong faith and loved the Lord and enjoyed reading his
Bible every evening. Curt married Carol (Skaggs) in 1962 and the couple built a beautiful life
together spanning over 60 years. He retired from the Ford Motor Company, UAW Local #425 in
1989.
Curt will be remembered for his love of antiques and oddities, often scouring garage sales and
flea markets in search of treasures, and he enjoyed tinkering in his garage working on old
engines and machines. At home in the woods, he loved to fish and hunt and shared this passion
with his children and grandchildren, always making them laugh with stories of the one that got
away.
A strong family-man, he is survived by his loving wife, Mary “Carol” Hicks (nee: Skaggs); his
children, Kim Jeffries of Lorain, Kevin Hicks (Michele) of Grafton, Tracy Green (Dave) of
Amherst; his grandchildren, Brittany Johns (Tony), Kurtis Jeffries (Hallie), Cole Hicks, David
Green, Alex Green; his great grandson, Austin Johns, and two great-grandchildren on the way.
He was preceded in death by his son in law, Phil Jeffries; his brothers, Doyle “Buck”, Vaughn
and Marvin Hicks; and his parents, AIvin and Oma Hicks (nee: Overbey).
