Colleen Coletta Standen (nee: Jones), 92 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, September 11, 2021, at Mercy New Life Hospice in Lorain following a full and blessed life.
She was born December 10, 1928, in Lorain, Ohio. Colleen was a lifetime resident of Amherst, graduating from Amherst High School with the class of 1947.
She was employed as a Medical Assistant, at the former Lorain County Community Hospital for thirty years. Nothing brought her greater joy than the time she spent with her family. Colleen especially enjoyed the weekly Sunday dinners and gatherings for the holidays that were always at her home. She had a servant's heart and could be found regularly hosting and caring for others. Colleen was a active member of Faith Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening and tending to her flowers.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Wade E. (Barb) Standen of Amherst, Scott A. Standen of Vermilion, Loren W. (Kathy) Standen of South Amherst, David L. (Bridget) Standen of Sheffield Lake, Todd W. (Patty) Standen of Amherst, Nancy (Anthony) Danicki of Amherst, and Cindy Washio of Lorain; fourteen grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; her siblings, Dale Jones of Wakeman, Alice Schatz of Amherst, and Joan Hines of Seymore, IN, and her former daughter in law, Carol Standen of Amherst.
She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-six years, Wayne E. Standen on June 29, 2013; her daughter in law, Debra Standen, on November 2, 2018, her son in law, Raymond Washio II, on July 12, 2012; and her by her parents, Clarence and Cecelia Jones (nee: Wilson).
Public visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, September 16, 2021, from 2-4 and 7-9 at Hempel Funeral Home, Amherst. Funeral Services will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Faith Baptist Church; 440 North Lake Street, Amherst. Rebroadcasting of services will be available at http://www.hempelfuneralhome.com. The Rev. Alex VanCuran, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow at Brownhelm Cemetery, Vermilion.
