Chester Davis, 81 years of age, and a resident of Nankin, Ohio, went home to be with his Lord and Saviour on Thursday, June 17, 2021, at the Cleveland Clinic in Avon, following a full and meaningful life.
He was born May 11,1940, in Pikeville, Kentucky where he was raised as a child. Chester had made his home in Ashland County, Ohio for the last fifty-five years.
He was employed as a machinist at FE Meyers for thirty-eight years before retiring. Chester was a member and minister of the Midway Baptist Church in Elyria. He considered himself an ambassador of his Lord, preaching God's love to everyone he met. One of Chester’s highlights every year was attending Midway Baptist Church camp meetings every June. He loved being outdoors whenever possible, gardening, fishing and hunting, especially coon hunting. Chester will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
Survivors include his loving wife of fifty-two years, Patty J. Davis (nee: Hamilton); his children, Jennifer Keesee ( Rev. Rick) of Elyria, C. Dwayne Davis (Tabitha) and Angela Meyer (Scott) both of Ashland, Ohio; eight grandchildren, several great grandchildren; his siblings, Paul Davis of Gallipolis, Ohio, Carl Davis of Mansfield, Ohio and Marie Wright of Pikeville, Kentucky.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Bobby, Danny, Lester, Christine Coleman and Loraine Mullins; and his parents, Harvey and Gracie Davis (nee: Rose).
Public visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, June 20, 2021 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with celebration service to follow, at Midway Baptist Church; 41812 Griswold Road, Elyria,OH. Funeral Services will be held Monday, at 10:00 a.m. at Midway Baptist Church. The Rev. Charles A. Keesee, Pastor Emeritus and Rev. Rick Keesee, will co-officiate. Burial will take place at Orange Township Cemetery, Nankin, Ohio.
