Catherine Marie Ellis

Catherine Marie Ellis (nee:Wysocki),  59 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Monday, January 4, 2021, at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain, following a lengthy illness.

She was born September 4, 1961, in Lorain, Ohio.  Cathy was raised in Lorain, graduating from Lorain High with the class of 1979. She had made her home in Amherst since 1989.

Those left behind to cherish Cathy’s memory include her husband of thirty years Anthony “Tony” Ellis; her children Brianna Ellis of Lorain, Jacob Ellis of Columbus, Kyle Ellis of Amherst, Meagan Ellis, Jon Ellis, Emily Ellis all of Lorain, Nicholas Ellis, Zachary Ellis both of Amherst; her grandson Major Willis; her siblings Joseph Wysocki of Columbus, Barbara Critelli of Sheffield and Joann Rodriguez of Lorain; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Alyssa Ellis in 2012; her brothers Frank Jr. and John; and her parents Frank, Sr. and Norma Jean Wysocki (nee: Smith), and nephew Danny Critelli and her father in law Roscoe Ellis.

Cathy found no greater joy in life then spending time with her family.  She was employed as a nurse at Sprenger Nursing Home for twenty years and First Choice Home Health Care for six years before retiring in 2007.  She was also employed as a social worker for different locations.  Cathy was a member of Amherst Church of the Nazarene and a former member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Lorain.  Her hobbies include doing crafts, cross stitch and painting.  She enjoyed photographing the family events.  

Visitation for family and friends will be held Sunday, January 10, 2021, by reservations at https://signup.com/go/yFXmFLw or by phoning Hempel Funeral Home during business hours 9:00 to 5pm.  Funeral services will be held privately by the family.  Rebroadcasting of services will be available at  http://www.hempelfuneralhome.com. 

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the family in Cathy’s memory.
