Catherine B Andrey

Catherine B. Andrey (nee: Sabol), 85 years of age, a resident of South Amherst, formerly of Avon passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2006 at her daughter's home following a lengthy illness.

She was born March 24, 1921 in Cleveland, Ohio. She was raised in Cleveland and graduated from East High School before moving to Avon in 1956 where she lived for forty-six years. She had made her home in South Amherst with her daughter for the last four years.

Catherine was employed as a receiving clerk at Sears for twenty-five years before retiring in 1992, she also worked at several greenhouses in the area. She was a member of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church in Avon where she assisted as a cook and housekeeper. She enjoyed reading, spending time in prayer and her relationship with the Lord.

Survivors include her sons Michael Andrey of Grafton, Albert Andrey of Amherst; her daughters Mary Hillier of Middleburg Heights, Rita Bilancini of South Amherst and Donna Jaykel of Elyria; her brother Andrew Sabol of Parma; twelve grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of thirteen years Albert Robert Andrey in 1964; her brother Julius Sabol; her sister Jenney Drda; and by her parents Andrew and Johanna Sabol (nee: Charnoky).

Friends may call Sunday, July 16, 2006 from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Closing prayers will be held Monday, July 17, 2006 at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a mass of Christian burial at 10:00 a.m. from St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church; 2640 Stoney Ridge Road, Avon. The Rev. Fr. Tom Cleaton, pastor will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Avon.
