Carolyn Margaret Starnes (nee: Winders), 75 years of age, and a resident of South Amherst, passed away Saturday, October 24, 2020, at Amherst Manor Nursing Home following a lifelong battle with multiple sclerosis.
Carolyn was born March 19, 1945 in Memphis, TN and raised in both Tennessee and Ohio before moving to the South Amherst area in the early 1950’s.
Carolyn was a member of Good Shepherd Baptist Church of Amherst. She devoted her life to being a housewife and mother. She enjoyed bird watching and crocheting, but by far she treasured family gatherings and time spent with her family.
Survivors include her husband of fifty-six years James C. Starnes; her son James “Jimbo” C. Starnes, Jr.; her daughters Stacey (Randy) Riley of South Amherst; Vickie (Lewis) Duncan of Amherst Township; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren; a brother Earl (Sherry) Winders ; and her sister Barbara (James) Anderson.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents William and Mattie Winders (nee: Jolly), and by brother Billy Winders.
Funeral services will be held privately by the family with burial at Kedeigh Corners, Amherst Township.
