Carole Lee Shawver, 82 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, April 26, 2021, at her home, following a full and meaningful life.
She was born July 17, 1938, in Lorain where she was raised, graduating from Lorain High School with the class of 1956. Carole had made her home in Amherst for fifty-four years.
She was employed as an accounting clerk at Nelson Stud/TRW in Elyria for forty-one years before retiring. Carole then continued her employment with the City of Amherst in the auditor's office for fifteen years. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Amherst. Her hobbies included bowling, and golf, where she achieved a hole in one, and was presented with a car for a year.
Survivors include her children, Lee Ann Northeim (Wayne), Judy Smith and Richard “Rick” M. Shawver, Jr. all of Amherst; her grandchildren, Melissa Hecker, Benjamin Northeim, Rick Shawver III, Katlyn Shawver and Evan Shawver; her great grandchildren, Madison Shawver, Melia Shawver, Tyler Hecker, Richard Shawver IV, and Ella Hecker; and her sister, Mary Ann Coghlan (Bob) of Texas.
She was preceded in death by her father, George Jones; by her mother, Betty Jane Boggs, and her stepmother, Mary Jones,and stepfather Ralph Boggs.
Public visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, April 30, 2021, from 4-8 p.m. at Hempel Funeral Home, Amherst. The funeral service will be held Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home, The Rev. Alex VanCuran, pastor of Faith Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will follow at Cleveland Avenue Cemetery, Amherst. Due to Covid-19, we are asking that people wear a mask and maintain social distances.
