Carl Rodger Kopp, 79 years of age, and a resident of South Amherst, passed away Monday, June 7, 2021, at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain.
He was born July 29, 1941, in Gown City/Shamokin, Pennsylvania. As a young boy Carl moved with his family. He was raised in Elyria, graduating from Elyria High School with the class of 1959. He had made his home in South Amherst for the last thirty-two years.
Carl was employed as a machinist at Ridge Tool for forty years before retiring. He was also employed at the former Kroger Grocery Store. Carl loved traveling, especially to Las Vegas. He enjoyed being outdoors, golfing, fishing, and playing darts. Cleveland Browns and Indians sporting events were a constant enjoyment. Carl was an avid Nascar racing fan and enjoyed going to the Indianapolis 500 which he made a ten year tradition. He loved spending time with his family and his rescue dog Carly.
Survivors include his wife of thirty-one years, Lynn Kopp (nee: Novak); his children, Barry Kopp of Elyria, Cary Kopp of North Olmsted, Ty Kopp and Shannon Tribble (Mike) both of Elyria; grandchildren, Nicki, Heather, Erin, Jonathan, Katie, Jordan and Taylor; several great grandchildren; and his brother, Harlan Kopp of Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his son, Terry Kopp on January 18, 2021; his siblings Vince, Eugene, Owen, Al, Russell, Kenneth, Shirley, Gladys and his parents, Russell, Sr. and Alice V. Kopp (nee: DeWalt).
Public visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, June 16, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 7:00 p.m. Rebroadcasting of services will be available at http://www.hempelfuneralhome.com/ .
