Carl Eugene Firestone

Carl Eugene Firestone, Sr. 87 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, May 22, 2023 at New Life Hospice Center in Lorain, following a full and meaningful life.

He was born December 13, 1935, in  Alliance, Ohio.  Carl had lived the majority of his life in Vermilion before moving to Amherst where he has resided for the last twenty years.

He was employed as technician at Ford Motor Company for thirty-eight years before retiring in 1999.  Carl and his late wife Billie Jean were franchise owners of Subway for twenty-five years. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and nothing brought him greater joy than the time he spent with them. Carl was a hard worker and loved being outside running his tractor.

Survivors include his children,  Carl E. Firestone, Jr. (Cathie) of Winter Gardens, Florida, Patricia Kurtz (Robert) of Lorain, Barbara Shaffer (Arthur) of Amherst, Pamela Terschak (Dale) of Vermilion, and Nancy Lurry (Dennis) of Lorain; eleven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-two years Billie Jean Firestone (nee: Ossman) on August 1, 2016; his four siblings, parents, Francis and Loretta Firestone (nee: Greenwald).

Services will be held privately by the family.
