Brenda L. Byrd (nee: Jones), 77 years of age, and resident of Wakeman, passed away October 23, 2023, at Fisher Titus Hospital in Norwalk after a long and full life.
Brenda was born November 28, 1945, in Knox County, Kentucky and moved in 1954 to the South Amherst and Wakeman area where she resided for the remainder of her life.
Brenda’s greatest calling her life was her home and family. She was a lifetime member of Grace Baptist Church in South Amherst. She loved to do crossword puzzles and watch the Golden Girls on TV with her husband. She loved being an aunt to her many nieces and nephews, even raising some of them. She will be missed for her warm heart and deep love for those around her.
Survivors include her husband of 57 years Earnest Byrd; her brothers, James Jones of Oberlin, Glennis Jones of N.C, Dwayne Jones of N.C., and Randy Jones of Wakeman; her sister, Audrey Hardwick (Claude) of Vermilion; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her brothers, Perry Jones, Winston Jones, Jerry Jones, and Barry Jones; her sisters, Shirley Griffith, Faye Combs, Irene Gholson, and Judy Jones; and her parents, Lathat and Viola Jones (nee: Frederick).
Friends may call Wednesday, November 1, 2023, from 11am till the time of service at 12 noon at the Hempel Funeral Home, Amherst. The Rev. Farrell Kieth, pastor of Grace Baptist Church will officiate. Rebroadcasting of services will be available at www.hempelfuneralhome.com. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, South Amherst, Ohio.
