Billy Junior Morrison, 97 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Thursday, February 4, 2021, at Kingston of Vermilion, following a full and meaningful life
He was born September 15,1923 in Paragould, Arkansas where he was raised and lived until 1947. Billy had made his home in Amherst since 1969.
He proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater on the battleship USS North Carolina as a gunner's mate. Billy was employed at Ford Motor Company in Lorain for thirty years before retiring in 1980, as a General Maintenance Supervisor. Billy enjoyed traveling, especially taking cruises. He enjoyed landscaping and tending to his yard. He loved the time he spent with his granddaughter Amanda and his great grandchildren AIden and Tyler.
Survivors include his son, Ricky Morrison (Bonnie) of Tonawanda, New York; his granddaughter Amanda Shattuck (Edward); his great grandchildren Aiden and Tyler Shattuck; his sister Maryann Falls of Jonesboro, AK.
He was preceded in death by his wife of seventy-one years Agnes Morrison (nee: Lawrence) on August 25, 2018; his brothers, Elvis Morrison, Delond Morrison, Hubert Morrison and Jackie Morrison; and his parents, William Franklin and Irene Morrison (nee: Milsap).
Public visitation for family and friends will be held Sunday, February 7, 2021, from 2-4 pm at Hempel Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Monday at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Rebroadcasting of services will be available at http://www.hempelfuneralhome.com/ . Burial will take place at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst.
