Beverly Dorrance, 85 years of age, and a resident of Oberlin, passed away Friday, February 5, 2021 at her home, following a six year battle with Lewy Body dementia.
Beverly was born on September 29, 1935. She grew up in Lorain and graduated from Clearview High School with the class of 1953. On turning eighteen, she married the love of her life and her story began.
She was a homemaker first as a wife, mother, and caretaker for those she loved. Beverly enjoyed a long marriage in an age where such things have become a rarity. She loved life, and her family is a testament to that. In her marriage to her husband she gave birth to four sons. After all the boys were in school, she helped support the family by working at several jobs over the years. She was a cashier at the first Hills store in Lorain, in the Homewood area near her home. Beverly moved on to cashiering at the Meyer Goldberg supermarkets on Broadway and in the Sheffield Center for several years, and then finished her working years at Minnotis Beverage and Shoreway Beverage in Sheffield Lake.
She always supported her boys through their Little League seasons in Lorain. Beverly also loved bowling and participated in several leagues in the county, at Aquamarine Lanes in Avon Lake, Shoreway Lanes in Sheffield Lake and Croation Lanes and Rebman’s in Lorain. At home, she especially enjoyed creating counted cross stitch pictures.
She is survived by her husband of sixty-seven years Robert S. Dorrance; sons Glenn, Robert (Kay), James (Monica) and Scott (Tina); ten grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
She is preceded by her parents Stanley and Ruth Wnek (nee: Cendroski).
Due to the pandemic, private services will be held at the Hempel Funeral Home in Amherst by Pastor Josh Moldenhauer of Grace Lutheran Church, Oberlin. Burial will be in the New Russia Township Cemetery, Oberlin.
