Betty Jo Swartz (nee: Tucker), 73 years of age, and a resident of Lorain, passed away Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at Autumn Aegis Nursing Home following a full life.
Betty was born July 14, 1948, in Amherst and she was raised and spent her whole life in Lorain.
Betty dedicated her life to being a housewife and mother. She was a member of North Lake Missionary Baptist Church. She loved being with her family and enjoyed traveling with them to tour festivals and county fairs.
Survivors include her children, James (Sharon) Swartz of Elyria, her daughter Donna “Dee Dee” Hicks of Lorain, three grandchildren, Lauren Fortner, Peyton Sears, Chase Swartz, Katie Leary,and Michael Leary; nine great grandchildren; her brother Ron and Pat Tucker; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of forty-four years Donald William Swartz; her siblings Ray Tucker and Beverly Chitwood.
Friends may call Tuesday, January 4, 2021, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Rebroadcasting of services will be available at www.hempelfuneralhome.com. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, South Amherst, Ohio.
