Betty Newbraugh (nee: Stemple), 89 years of age, and a resident of Sheffield Township, passed away Thursday, August 12, 2021 at her home, following a full and meaningful life.
She was born July 22, 1932 in Grafton, West Virginia. Betty had made her home in Lorain for sixty-five years.
Betty was a longtime member of Grace Community Church in Grafton. She was employed as a cashier at Vincent Elementary with Clearview School Systems. Betty was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. She enjoyed making Sunday dinner every week and last enjoyed dinner with her family and her ministers last Sunday. Betty along with her late husband worked in Scouting for many years. She enjoyed feeding the birds and squirrels in the yard.
Survivors include her children Ronald Newbraugh of Elyria, Linda Fleming (Steve), and Judy (James) Ondeka all of Lorain; Patsy Pedraza (Richard) of Elyria and Bill Newman of Lorain; eighteen grandchildren; thirty-five great grandchildren and one great great grandchild..
She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-two years Frank D. Newbraugh on July 9, 2012;her children Keith Newbraugh, David Newbraugh, Sr., Steve Newbraugh, Carolyn Newbraugh; her daughter in law Rose Marie Newbraugh; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Public visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, August 17,2021 from 6-8 p.m. Additional calling hours will be Wednesday from 12:00 until the time of the funeral at 1:00 p.m. at Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst, Ohio. The Rev. Edward Wishart and Rev. James Thornton, pastor at Grace Community Church will co-officiate. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
