Betty Marie Hill Eberly

Betty Marie Hill Eberly (nee: Gillen), 96 years of age, and a resident of Ravenna, passed away  Thursday, April 27, 2023, at her daughter Cheryle’s home where she resided, following a full and meaningful life.

She was born December 27, 1926 in Lorain.  Betty was raised in Sheffield Lake, graduating from Brookside High School with the class of 1945.  Betty moved to Norwalk in 1991 living there for 30 years before moving to Ravenna for the last two years. 

Betty was employed as a factory worker in several locations.  She also enjoyed working at Hiram College baking desserts.  Betty loved attending her senior fellowships.  In her younger years, she enjoyed bowling and embroidery. Her greatest joy was the time she spent with her family.

Survivors include her children, William H. Hill Jr. (Carol) of Willoughby, Nancy Ann Wright (Marvin) of Norwalk, Jo Ann Spiker of Medina, Cynthia Ann Macaluso (Pat Wilson) of Hiram, and Cheryle Ann Rezabek (Mike) of Ravenna; seventeen grandchildren, forty-four great grandchildren; seventeen great great grandchildren; and her brother Charles  Gillen, Jr.  of Sheffield Lake.

Betty was preceded in death by her former husband William Hill; her grandson, Christopher Macaluso; her son in law Jim Spiker; her parents Charles Sr. and Ethel Gillen-Parks (nee: Newell) and her stepfather John Parks.

Friends may call Thursday, May 11, 2023, from 6-8 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home, Amherst.   Funeral services will be held on Friday, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 17876 St. Clair Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio 44110.
