Beatrice Skeens-Nagel (nee: Perdue), 93 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at New Life Hospice in Lorain, following a full and meaningful life.
She was born July 23, 1930, in Ceredo, West Virginia. Beatrice was raised in Wayne County, West Virginia before moving to Cleveland. She had made her home Amherst for the last thirty years.
Beatrice was employed at Oberlin College for over forty years in phone operations, retiring as a phone service manager. She loved tending to her garden, reading, traveling and doing crossword puzzles.
Survivors include her husband of twenty-two years, Lee Charles Nagel; her son, Phillip W. Skeens of Virginia Beach, Virginia; five grandchildren, six great grandchildren; her sister and brother in law, Mary Ann and Al Sakacsi; her special friends, Jim and Corrine Klaiber; her goddaughter, Sarah Klaiber; her nephews, Dennis, Jerry Jeff, Michael and Keith Simmons and their families.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Susan L. Skeens; her sisters, Delores Simmons Payne and her husband Bill; Billie Simmons and her husband Burl; her special godson, Scott Klaiber; her nephew, Bruce Simmons; and parents, Lloyd and Madge Perdue (nee: Noe).
