Barbara Ann Becker (nee: King), 80 years of age, and a resident of South Amherst, passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2020, at her home, following a full and meaningful life.
She was born December 13, 1939, in Norwalk, Ohio and raised in Berlin Heights. Following her marriage to her husband Robert Sr. in 1968, South Amherst became and remained her home until her passing.
Barbara was a graduate of MB Johnson School of Nursing and was a registered nurse employed at Elyria Memorial Hospital as a OR manager. She also was an adjunct professor at Lorain County Community College teaching surgical tech. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where she was a member of the Education board. She served her community as Mayor of South Amherst as well as Village Council Member. She was a 25 year member of the South Amherst and Firelands School Boards. She was a constant advocate for her friends and neighbors wherever she served. Above all Barbara treasured her roles as wife, mother, and grandmother.
Survivors include her children Robert G. Becker, Jr., Penny R. K. Becker all of South Amherst; grandchildren Robby Becker, Alaina Becker, Frank Becker Balcik, Jaxson Becker Balcik, and Carson Blackburn, her siblings James King of Atlanta, GA and Penny Paul of Sagamore Hills, as well as many nieces and nephews and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her husband of thirty-six years Robert George Becker, Sr. on September 16, 2004; her daughter Elizabeth Blackburn on January 18, 2019; and her parents James Wilson, Sr., and Betty Jeanette King (nee Tucker).

Limited public funeral for family and friends will be held Tuesday morning by reservation at https://signup.com/go/GzOYgDv at St. Paul Lutheran Church; 115 Central Drive, Amherst. Rebroadcasting of services will be available at www.hempelfuneralhome.com. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, South Amherst.
Masks and public distancing will be required for the funeral service only. Masks will be available if needed.
