Avis June Grimm (nee: Phillips), 88 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, went home to be with her Lord and Saviour on Wednesday, July 7, 2021, at her home, following a full and meaningful life.
She was born February 10, 1933, in Washington, Pennsylvania where she was raised. After her marriage, Avis and her late husband Floyd moved to Lorain County where they have made their home for the last seventy-two years.
Avis loved being a homemaker, she treasured the family gatherings and the fellowship they all shared. Nothing brought her greater joy than the time she spent with all of her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She especially loved dancing with her husband Floyd. Survivors include her children, Bettie R. Grimm of North Ridgeville, Jeffrey M. Grimm (Ila) of Elyria, Jesse A. Grimm (Beth) of Grafton, Amy Jo Brown (Greg) of Amherst, Lisa R. Grimm Donathan (Larry) of Loudonville, Damian M. Colon (Jackie) of West Salem; nineteen grandchildren; forty-one great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; her siblings, Irene Ross of Washington, Pennsylvania and Diane Hollars (Joe) of Avon.
She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-five years Floyd Richard Grimm on March 11, 2015, her infant son Floyd Richard "Ricky" Grimm, Jr. in 1953; her siblings Frances Roupe and Betty Horner; and her father and mother, Russell Henry Phillips and Goldie Phillips (nee: Poland) and step father Lester Dean.
Public visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, July 12, 2021, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral at 12:30 p.m. at Hempel Funeral Home, Amherst. Rebroadcasting of services will be available at http://www.hempelfuneralhome.com/ . Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain, Ohio.
