Audrey May Long (nee: Roche), 96 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Sunday, February 28, 2021, at Abbewood in Elyria.
She was born to Millicent and Thomas Roche on May 3, 1924, in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Audrey was a graduate of Moravian College in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. She married E. John (Jack) Long in 1946, she and her family moved to Claymont, Delaware where they lived for many years before moving to Amherst in 1962.
Audrey was a member of Lakeland Women’s Club and with her husband, they were members of the Lorain Cosmopolitan Club and several area and state round and ballroom dance clubs.
Survivors include her sons, Larry (Ellie) Long of Washington, Pennsylvania and Eric (Sandy) Long of Amherst; her daughter Tashe “Sally” Long of Australia; her granddaughter, Kelly Long (Ryan Paciocco) of Cincinnati; grandson, Gregory Long (Ashley) of Litchfield; and her great grandchildren, Mason, Quinn, Olivia; and her brother, Thomas A. Roach II of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-one years, John (Jack) Long in 2007; her sister Lucille Ruth; parents Millicent and Thomas Roche. (nee Klinkhoff).
Public visitation for family and friends will be held at Hempel Funeral Home on Saturday, March 6, 2021, from 11:00-12:00 pm. Graveside services will be held on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, 44805 North Ridge Road, Amherst. The Rev. Adam Davis of Lorain Lighthouse United Methodist Church will officiate. Rebroadcasting of services will be available at http://www.hempelfuneralhome.com/ .
